Corps wins AUSA award for community activities
The University of North Georgia's (¶¶Òõ̽̽App) Corps of Cadets earned the 2022 Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Best Activities to Enhance the Community award.
Cadet Col. Warren Walker, the corps brigade commander, received the award alongside ¶¶Òõ̽̽App President Bonita C. Jacobs and Col. Bryan Kirk, ¶¶Òõ̽̽App's professor of military science, at the AUSA Annual Meeting and Exposition in October in Washington, D.C.
"Winning this award is a testament to the consistent and deliberate approach that our ¶¶Òõ̽̽App Corps of Cadets takes toward making themselves and those around them better. The strength of the Boar's Head Brigade is directly tied to the community where we live, work and play," Kirk said. "The ability of our cadets to support their Nighthawk classmates as well as our Dahlonega friends makes a positive difference in each of our lives. We're grateful for the support from our local leaders and excited to be recognized for giving back to such an amazing community."
¶¶Òõ̽̽App received a $3,000 check from Lockheed Martin as part of the award.
The honor puts ¶¶Òõ̽̽App, one of six senior military colleges in the United States, atop the 270 ROTC companies nationwide in the community activities category.
"Outreach from cadets does not stop at the campus boundaries as their influence can be seen throughout the community," Walker said. "The Boar's Head Brigade is truly blessed to have such a supportive community around it, and this award is a testament to their support as much as it is to the support of our cadets."
Mullins excited to give back in return to ¶¶Òõ̽̽App
Alumnus Shawn Mullins will return to ¶¶Òõ̽̽App in October to raise funds for the Golden Eagle Band, a cadet specialty unit that helped shape his own journey.
Mund takes lead of alumni relations
Jordan Mund, a 2021 ¶¶Òõ̽̽App graduate, started her new role as executive director of alumni relations Sept. 1.

Jaden Clark-Davidson and Brandon Clark-Davidson were two of the 20 ¶¶Òõ̽̽App cadets who commissioned Sept. 10 as second lieutenants in the Army and Georgia Army National Guard.
9/11 remembrance event set for Sept. 10 at ¶¶Òõ̽̽App
Col. Christian Durham, ¶¶Òõ̽̽App's professor of military science, will serve as the keynote speaker for ¶¶Òõ̽̽App's 9/11 remembrance ceremony. It will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 10.
