Cadet earns scholarship from veterans' group
University of North Georgia (¶¶Òõ̽̽App) cadet Hyunbean Park has been selected as the annual ¶¶Òõ̽̽App recipient of a scholarship from the Georgia Mountain Chapter (GMC) of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA).
"Receiving the scholarship from MOAA is a tremendous honor for me. It validates my dedication to learning, service to our nation and international engagement," Park said. "I'm humbled by this recognition, and I want to express my gratitude to members of MOAA for their continuous selfless service by supporting the next generation of leaders."
Park is a senior from Suwanee, Georgia, pursuing a degree in international affairs with a concentration in Europe and a minor in Russian. He was recognized as the scholarship winner at the annual GMC MOAA meeting held Sept. 28-Oct. 1 at ¶¶Òõ̽̽App's Dahlonega Campus.
"We showcased ¶¶Òõ̽̽App's prestigious Corps of Cadets and the city of Dahlonega to all conferees. GMC MOAA is fortunate to have one of six national senior military colleges in our area, and we wanted our fellow MOAA members from other chapters to meet and observe ¶¶Òõ̽̽App cadets in action," retired Col. Tom Palmer, GMC MOAA first vice president and retired ¶¶Òõ̽̽App commandant of cadets, said. "We appreciated the cooperation of ¶¶Òõ̽̽App President Mike Shannon, along with the support of the professor of military science and the commandant of cadets as we showcased the best military leadership development program in America."
MOAA is a non-profit veterans' association dedicated to maintaining a strong national defense and ensuring the nation keeps its commitments to currently serving, retired and former members of the uniformed services and their families.
GMC MOAA routinely supports the commissioning program at ¶¶Òõ̽̽App by presenting a gift to every lieutenant who commissions from the Corps of Cadets.
Mullins excited to give back in return to ¶¶Òõ̽̽App
Alumnus Shawn Mullins will return to ¶¶Òõ̽̽App in October to raise funds for the Golden Eagle Band, a cadet specialty unit that helped shape his own journey.
Two students attend national forensic program
A PSA student spent time at UT Martin gaining work experience and earning college credit toward a criminal justice degree. A second ¶¶Òõ̽̽App student also attended.
Mund takes lead of alumni relations
Jordan Mund, a 2021 ¶¶Òõ̽̽App graduate, started her new role as executive director of alumni relations Sept. 1.
Officers grew thanks to opportunities at ¶¶Òõ̽̽App
Jaden Clark-Davidson and Brandon Clark-Davidson were two of the 20 ¶¶Òõ̽̽App cadets who commissioned Sept. 10 as second lieutenants in the Army and Georgia Army National Guard.
