Davis wins swimming national titles
University of North Georgia (¶¶Òõ̽̽App) junior Meagan Davis made a major splash on a national stage in April. Davis, a member of the ¶¶Òõ̽̽App Swim Club, earned first place in both the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke events at the College Club Swimming Nationals in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Davis, a Cumming, Georgia, resident, feeds her competitive drive through swimming.
"My success in the pool comes from the fact that I just enjoy being in the water and working hard for my goals," she said. "There is nothing more rewarding than hard work paying off."
She originally considered pursuing swimming on scholarship in college before she decided to come to ¶¶Òõ̽̽App. She knew swimming at that level would have been all-consuming, but being at ¶¶Òõ̽̽App gives her the balance to pursue degrees in both finance and chemistry.
"I want to go into healthcare, and I want to have my own research and development facility," Davis said.
She is considering pursuing a Ph.D. in chemistry.
Alex Beatty, a senior from Roswell, Georgia, pursuing a degree in cybersecurity with a minor in Russian, serves as president of the ¶¶Òõ̽̽App Swim Club. He was thankful his teammate was able to win a pair of national titles.
"It's exciting having someone like that on our team," Beatty said. "That brings the whole group to another level."

Kristin Bennett, nurse practitioner for Student Health Services at ¶¶Òõ̽̽App's Dahlonega Campus, recently earned the Unsung Hero Award from the University System of Georgia.
